DALLE-ORE

BIOGRAPHIE

« Dalle-Ore, Born in Saint Tropez in 1969. She began painting in her hometown before leaving to study in the United States. There, she obtained a scholarship to a university of arts in 1987. Back in Paris, she studied at the Académie Charpentier and the Ateliers de la Grande Chaumière. In 1991, she changed direction and became involved in music. After working for eight years in the recording industry, she went on a long trip through Asia. It was during this year-long adventure that she produced her first travel sketch books. Then she decided to devote herself fully to painting again. […]

Among her sources of inspiration, in addition to her major influences, Basquiat and Twombly, Dalle-Ore readily admits a real affection for the 1950s and 60s. The old-fashioned aesthetics of the advertising posters of the time, their color and their specific grain of paper. A golden age of advertising, slogans and cartoon characters, of which she appreciates the spirit and the joyful and carefree atmosphere. In her world, everything is conducive to creativity. From her many travels, she draws the very essence of her inspiration and the energy that emanates from her paintings. Curious and observant, she photographs, takes notes. She draws and records all of those stolen moments in her moleskin notebook. […]

Dalle-Ore has a predilection for urban themes and the emblematic characters of the 20th century. Her gallery of portraits ranges from Pop icons, to symbols of fashion. It also goes from politically or socially aware artists to political figures. Dalle-Ore extracts them from their context, accentuates the traits, exacerbates the curves and saturates the colors in her compositions. Conventional portraits are re-visited, she absorbs her subject. The artist challenges it to build a personal vision that oscillates between humor and poetry, nostalgia and modernity, provocation and worship.

Then, she transforms our perceptions and manipulates photographs with enthusiasm. In each of her paintings she creates a world both abstract and figurative, where fanciful proportions and perspectives serve above all to emphasize the freedom of the artist. In her work, imagination takes over, sometimes with a child-like style. She deconstructs cities, reinvents the outlines of buildings with a free and sharp stroke, covers them with collages and colors depending on her inspiration.

Humorously, she uses offbeat sentences or details cut from magazines, which, once integrated into her paintings, give them a new lease of life. Between impulse and reflection, her original associations form a coherent and harmonious whole. Also, it add to the liveliness and spontaneity of her work. Far from being static, the world of Dalle-Ore is in perpetual motion. It invites the viewer’s eye to travel across her canvases, like the calligraphy she uses and that seem to roam freely in her paintings with mock abandon.

Intuitive creation or a constructed message, her work breathes and whispers to those who listen. In Dalle-Ore’s work words play a major role in the perception of colors and shapes, giving an extra dimension to her work. In her paintings, memory and the past mixes with the present. She infuses her paintings with powerful and delicate patterns and colors, humor and poetry. The expression of her inner world, real and dreamed. »
