Pantone’s genius is about not using 4 primary colours to mix but 10 different ones, replacing optical colorimetry by a physical one! Moreover, the tone is not made by subtracting but by adding colours, just like a painter would do, so the tint preexists before printing!
Since 2000, Pantone, the mythical company that provides an infinite palette, declares each year a particular “Color of the year” that inspires Interior Designers and Fashion. This year, 2018, it is the ’Ultra Violet Pantone 18-3838. This new tone is to be a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, that “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us towards the future.” The Pantone Ultra-Violet brings up the color of the spectrum, or the “black light”, which exists but cannot be seen by our human eye, it also alludes to mystery, cosmos and a fusion between two rival colours : red and blue. For 2018, Pantone wanted a colour “Inventive and imaginative […] that lights the way to what is yet to come”.
DAKAR & ART
6th – 20th of January 2018
Since 1978, “Dakar” is a race organized by Amaury Sport Organisation. It’s an unmissable rendez-vous for car lovers, mechanic and speed fans. The competition initially located between Europe and Africa is now taking place in South America. Motorbikes, cars, trucks and quads from Peugeot, Mini and Toyota race across Peru, Bolivia and Argentina to win this prize.
Mechanical beauty is captivating. The machines inspired art since its invention, the Futurist movement in Art History shows it perfectly. This fascination is still there and it is the case for the artist Marcello, from Marciano galleries.
